ALS interpreters' English worse than the defendants'?
A legal visit in Belmarsh on 17th February in preparation for a big extradition case. At the end of the consultation the prisoner asked me very politely if I could please, please interpret for him in court again (I started the case and lost it to ALS) as the last interpreter did not explain anything to him. He added: "I had to correct her a few times, and that's with my English which is 120 days old!" The solicitor is filing a complaint. I wonder how many days the Bulgarian ALS interpreter spent on her English?
