Applied Language Solutions don't pay what's agreed
Here is my first-hand experience of working for ALS. They had pestered me with job offers for weeks and I finally decided to give them a try, on condition that I was paid full mileage and full travel time.
However, when I completed the timesheet on their portal, it turned out there was simply no provision for travel time in their clever automated system. So the travel time was not added to the total. I pressed the 'query payment' button but nobody came back to me.
I then tried to call them up but nobody picked up the phone. I sent them a couple of angry emails but they never replied. You can't even call them as the line is always busy, and when you do get through they invite you to leave your contact details and 'someone will definitely come back to you'. Needless to say, they have never called back. Frustrated, I gave up and accepted the payment as it was, without travel time supplement.
Am I ever going to work again for a client who I can't contact? No. Meanwhile, they keep calling me offering new jobs. When I explain that I am not taking new bookings until I am paid what I was promised they sigh simplistically and promise to send an email to their Accounts and say 'somebody will definitely come back to you'... and blah blah blah.
By the way, is there anybody out here who has ever got to speak to a real person and had their query resolved?
