At least two trials adjourned in Stratford due to interpreter no-shows
Today in Stratford - as reported by my colleague: at least 2 trials got adjourned at Stratford Magistrates today. A Russian colleague was working as an interpreter for the witness for one of the trials. Everyone was there by 9.30 am but for the ALS interpreter for the defendant. The case had already been previously adjourned till today on 2 Feb when the defendant and the withess were there (reason for first adjournment was not confirmed). Today everyone waited since 9.30 to lunchtime, unable to proceed for lack of interpreter for the defendant. As the witness refused to come back after lunch, the case was adjourned until 10 April. However, the witness said in private that he/she will not come to court for the third time. The court staff were completely unaware of the "new system" and the involvement of ALS.
