My name on ALS database without my consent
I am an Italian interpreter, at 14.47 hrs on 28/03, I received a call from guy called Simon from ALS (08453677000) as to whether I had a minute to discuss joining on the MoJ project.
I explained that my principles prevent me from associating with people who flog unqualified wannabes as interpreters to the criminal justice agencies thus causing so much grief to all concerned and costing money to us all. Simon says: "I understand, I'll make sure your name is removed from our database". I say: "How come my name is on your database, Simon?" Simon replies: "I do not know I've just got a list of names to ring up." I explained to Simon that if my name was on the database, it is a breach of the Data Protection Act as I never consented to my data being held. Simon did not know what to say, just repeated that my name would be removed from the database.
I wished him a happy time working for ALS.
